Review: Avira AntiVir Personal seems rightchoice for all those who seek a solution with decent performance and regular updates, just to be sure infections stay away from your valuable data. Developers over Avira have always offered a well organized interface, and their latest antivirus solution makes no exception to this rule. Fortunately, although I had to fight viruses, the application comes with a user friendly interface that allows you to configure it easily. Avira offers just a bunch of attributes, so advanced users should have no problem to deal with them, but beginners should also find the entire application is quite easy to use. Installation is not so good though. If you have installed Windows Defender, Avira advises you to remove it before proceeding with the installation. We chose? No one? because this will make much sense to use Avira together with Windows Defender and not a simple solution. Continuing your installation leads to another important point: you must decide whether you want to install the toolbar, which is actually the reason why the application is marked as ad-supported. The scan is a type of process that requires minimal interaction from the user. Select the hard drive you want to scan and let Avira do its job. Scanning is not too fast, however, and may have to wait some time to remove worms. The speed of the scanning process obviously depends on the amount of data stored on your computer, so more files means more time. Avira promises to protect your computer from viruses, worms and Trojan horses AntiDialer protection against both dialers, rootkits, spyware and adware. In addition, there are special tools to provide email and web protection, plus a separate firewall to be sure E will remain on the safe side. In the end, Aviras antivirus solution seems very suitable for those who want nothing more than a software capable to block viruses and trojans. The interface is decent but faster scanning process would be great. Yet, what you pay is what you get, and Avira is obviously smart choice. |
