Review: DVD2AVI Ripper is an application which enables you to encode DVDs to several media formats, including 3GP, MP3 and WAV. The interface of the tool is simplistic and easy to navigate through. You can import a DVD by using the file browser only, since the drag and drop method is not supported. After you select the output format and destination, you can proceed with the conversion process. Additionally, you can set the video width, height, frame rate and zoom, select the audio track, subtitle, index and angle, as well as specify the spitting method (e.g. by chapter, custom size). Furthermore, you can preview the DVD in a small, built-in media player, enable audio and video synchronization, select the audio and video codec along with the output video system (PAL or NTSC), edit metadata (artist, album, year, genre), encode a time segment or from the current position, and more. The video converter uses a moderate-to-high quantity of system resources and takes a reasonable amount of time to finish a task. The image and sound are kept at a pretty good quality in the output videos. Theres also a well-written help file with snapshots available for beginners. On the other hand, the interface needs a makeover, since it looks a little outdated. DVD2AVI Ripper failed to convert a couples of videos during our tests. We recommend this tool with reservations. |
