Review: STOPzilla! AVM is a comprehensive software application that blocks popup ads, deactivates adware and spyware, and erases web browser cookies and history, focusing on delivering a private and stress-free workspace. The interface is represented by a well-organized window, where an initial scan is recommended at startup. You can view scanned files, removed threats, and total updates applied. The scan mode can be carried out in three ways: quickly (active system areas), intelligently (common areas) or fully (deep cleaning). It is also possible to customize scans on any locations by selecting the objects to verify, between processes, restore points, services, drivers, registry, network components, cookies, and boot records. STOPzilla! AVM features a real-time guard for Internet settings, the Hosts file, system startup and policies, Windows Explorer settings, processes, and file access. A scheduler is available for multiple scan jobs. Threats can be sent to a quarantine on detection instead of removing them, for further evaluation. As far as program settings are concerned, you can disable real-time protection or just some of its modules, sounds, automatic update definitions, the startup screen, automatic quarantine purging, and removable media detection. Aside from scanning archives, you can ask STOPzilla! AVM to check the system for PUPs and commercial keyloggers, perform automatic extractions and reboot the computer when its done, as well as adjust the scan priority level. The program does not hog system resources and it carries out a scan job in reasonable time, without hanging, crashing or popping up errors. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. All in all, STOPzilla! AVM comes packed with a handy set of features for scanning, preventing and deactivating rogue agents. |
